Tendonitis is also spelled as ‘’Tendinitis’’. Inflammation of the tendon is known as tendonitis. The problem of tendonitis is caused by factors such as improper blood circulation, damaged tissues, side effects of an antibiotic medicine or smoking. Individuals suffering from the problem of arthritis, diabetes or obesity may also experience the symptoms associated with tendonitis. Main symptoms of tendonitis include pain and swelling. Different herbal remedies for tendonitis are mentioned below.

Castor Oil

Castor oil is extracted from the seeds of the plant named ‘’Ricinus Communis’’. This herb can be used in the treatment of tendonitis. The affected area can be directly massaged with castor oil several times in a day to reduce the pain resulting from tendonitis. Another option is to soak a cloth in the oil and keep it on the affected area for a period of 6 to 8 hours to obtain the desired results.

White Willow Bark

One of the most beneficial herbal remedies for tendonitis is white willow bark. Dried white willow bark can be used in the preparation of herbal tea. Intake of this tea on a frequent basis can provide relief from tendonitis.

White willow bark extract can also be consumed to relieve tendonitis pain. This herb is not recommended for ulcer patients, pregnant women or individuals taking blood thinning medicines.

Arnica

Arnica has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Applying arnica gel on the affected area on a regular basis can help in the treatment of tendonitis. A paste created by mixing arnica flowers with rue oil can be applied on the affected area to obtain the desired results.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera gel can be rubbed on the affected area on a daily basis to cure tendonitis. A mixture of aloe vera gel, oats and water can be applied on the affected area to obtain relief from tendonitis.

Intake of aloe vera juice (half cup) may also help in reducing the pain resulting from tendonitis.

Comfrey

The problem of tendonitis can be treated with the use of comfrey. This herb is also known as ‘’Symphytum Officinalis’’. Comfrey extract can be applied on the affected area to obtain relief from tendonitis pain. A paste can also be created by mixing powdered comfrey root with water and rubbed on the affected area to obtain the desired results.

Licorice Root

Licorice root can be mixed with water to prepare tea and consumed on a regular basis to reduce the inflammation resulting from tendonitis. It is advisable to consult a doctor before using this herb.

St. John’s Wort

St. John’s wort is frequently used for dealing with tendonitis. This herb contains hypericin which can reduce tendonitis inflammation within a short span of time. The affected area can be massaged with St. John’s wort several times in a day to cure various symptoms associated with tendonitis.

Turmeric

Turmeric is also known as ‘’Curcuma longa’’. This herb is a member of the ginger family. Turmeric has anti- arthritic, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Another option is to consume turmeric extract on a daily basis to cure tendonitis.
