The problem of sinus can result from a bacterial or viral infection. It can be of two types – acute and chronic. Frontal (in the forehead), maxillary (behind the cheekbones), ethmoid (between the eyes) and sphenoid (behind the eyes) are the four major areas affected by sinus.

The problem of sinus is caused by factors such as allergies, cold, polyps, pollution, overuse of nasal products, smoking or dry air. This problem may result in pain and pressure on the face, headache, mucus formation, stuffy nose, bad breath, fever, toothache and so on. The problem of sinus can be cured with the use of different herbal remedies.

Horseradish

You can use horseradish in the treatment of sinus. A solution can be prepared by mixing horseradish, olive oil with lemon juice and consumed on a daily basis to reduce the swelling and pain resulting from sinus.

Ginger

Ginger is an excellent herb for different health related problems. The problem of sinus can be cured with the use of ginger.

You can create a mixture by adding ginger in a cup of boiling water. Soak a clean towel in this mixture (after it has cooled down) and keep the squeezed towel on the face to obtain relief from the pain resulting from sinus.

Anise

You can prepare anise tea by boiling crushed anise seeds in a cup of water for a period of 5 to 10 minutes and consume it on a regular basis to relieve sinus.

It is important to consume this tea 2 to 3 times on a daily basis to obtain effective results. Inhaling the steam of a mixture containing hot water and anise oil can also provide relief from various symptoms of sinus.

Horehound

You can use horehound to deal with the problem of sinus. A cup of herbal tea can be prepared by boiling dried horehound leaves in boiling water for a period of 2 to 3 minutes and consumed several times in a day to treat various symptoms caused by sinus.

Peppermint

Peppermint has anti-inflammatory properties. A mixture can be created by adding 2 to 3 drops of peppermint oil in a small bowl of water and inhaled on a regular basis to cure the pain and swelling resulting from sinus. You can also consume tea containing peppermint oil to obtain relief from the symptoms associated with sinus.

Goldenseal

You can use goldenseal in the treatment of sinus. A tonic can be prepared by boiling the goldenseal root powder in a glass of water for a period of 10 to 15 minutes. Consumption of this tonic on a daily basis may provide relief from the headache caused by sinus.

Grapefruit Seed

You can use grapefruit seed extract to deal with the problem of sinus. A solution can be created by adding grapefruit seed extract in water and consumed on a regular basis to obtain relief.

Bromelain

Bromelain is an enzyme extracted from pineapple. Intake of bromelain (250 mg to 300 mg) 3 to 4 times in a day can relieve sinus infection and congestion. This herb should be consumed empty stomach to obtain best results.
