Dorado Azul Essential Oil – Healthy Remedies

0

Dorado Azul Essential Oil is a natural anti-inflammatory, and supports the respiratory, digestive and hormonal systems in the body. It is grown and is distilled in Ecuador.

Although many people are not familiar with the healing properties of Dorado Azul many indigenous cultures in India, Nigeria and elsewhere have used it for hundred of years to treat bacterial infections and disease; cancer and tumors; skin diseases, gastrointestinal disorders; and as a natural mosquito repellent and pesticide.

Several studies have confirmed that Dorado Azul Essential Oil has anti-cancer and tumorigenic properties (Mudgal, et al, 1997 and Peerzada, et al 1997). Additionally, a study in 1999 revealed that it was effective against both gram positive (Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aurous) and negative (E. coli, Pseudomonas spp.) bacterial strains; as well as Candida albicans.

Did you know that Studies have revealed that Dorado Azul Essential Oil Accelerates Wound Healing?

Yes, and the most interesting find reported in the International Journal of Applied Biology and Pharmaceutical Technology in March 2011 is that Dorado Azul reverses the delay in healing for those who are undergoing any steroid treatment, specifically dexamethasone.

It is well known that one of the side effects of using pharmaceuticals that contain steroids is that they slow down and suppress the natural wound healing capacity of the body. And this plant negates it!

What is the Genus Species? Hyptis suaveolens. Some of the common names I have seen are: Bush Mint, Pignut, Chan or Wild Spikenard. It is in the mint family.

Why is this information important? It’s always important to know your genus species of your oil. Just the common name on the bottle doesn’t really tell you exactly what you’re getting.

Where did the name come from? Unknown at this time.

What Part of the Plant is Used? Whole plant is used.

What is the ORAC Value? Unknown at this time.

What does this number tell you? ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity. It tells you the antioxidant capacity of a food item. Antioxidants have shown to reduce the risk of age related conditions and cancer! This was developed by the USDA researchers. For instance: Oranges = 750; Clove = 1,078,700. Wow! The number for clove is NOT a typo!

What are the Chemical Constituents?

A study conducted on a plant in Nigeria found that the dominant chemical constituents are sabinene (16.5%), trans-α-bergamotene and β-caryophyllene (19.8%), terpinen-4-ol (9.6%) and β-pinene (8.6%). Another study reported sabinene (30.0%), terpinen-4-ol (11.4%), terpinolene (5.6%), 1,8-cineole (5.2%), β-pinene (4.4%) and α-terpinene (4.2%). So there is variation depending on where it is grown and a possible chemotype.

The mint family is known to produce the most variation in oil composition; and therefore there are many chemotypes. More research is needed on this plant for sure!

Confirmed in all studies are these compounds:

• Sabinene: Monoterpene. Anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Also contained in yarrow, nutmeg and juniper.

• β-caryophyllene: Sesquiterpene. Anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and insect repelling. Also found in black pepper, ylang ylang.

• terpinen-4-ol: Phenol. Anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, cleansers and antiseptics. Found in Tea Tree or melaleuca alternifolia.

• β-pinene or α-Pinene: Monoterpenes. Anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-fungal and expectorant properties. Also found in cypress and galbanum.

• 1,8 cineol or eucalyptol: Oxide. Decongest the lungs and sinuses; respiratory conditions. Found in eucalyptus spp and cajuput.

What are the Plant Properties? Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticancer, insecticidal, anti-infectious.

What are the Documented Uses and Benefits of Dorado Azul Essential Oil? Asthma, cancer, emphysema, brain function, gastrointestinal disorders, hormonal balance (estrogen), inflammation, insect repellant irritation, muscle ache and pain, skin conditions, respiratory system, nervous system and wound healing.

What is the Aromatic Affect on the Mind? Its herbaceous aroma is uplifting and clearing.

What is the Spiritual Influence? Dorado Azul Essential Oil soothes the emotional body by opening up the respiratory system and releasing irritation in the body. It also heightens awareness, builds confidence and allows us to go with the flow of life.

When we breath easier we allow our emotions to be processed rather than repressed or stuffed which cause respiratory complaints to begin with. It will help to expel rigidness and self judgement.

The chemical constituents of phenols, sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes cleanse, delete and re-program information on a cellular and DNA level.
