Almost as bad as acne itself are the scars that it leaves behind. If you pick at the pimples, it always makes it worse.
Even if you don’t though, there are often some awful scars left behind.
This is particularly true if you have a real acne problem that you suffer with and what is left behind can often make one feel self conscious and rather unhappy with the appearance.
There are a number of solutions out there that promise to remove acne scars forever, but it can be intimidating when you’re not sure what these “solutions” are made up of.
You can’t ever quite be sure of the side effects you may have to these solutions either, so what is one to do to remove acne scars forever or at the very least minimize the effects of them?
You can certainly seek medical attention from a dermatologist whereby the scars can be removed or you can be provided with medication to help minimize these blemishes.
There are also some revolutionary new practices out there within the plastic surgery world such as microdermabrasion whereby the acne scars and other blemishes are removed and a new fresh layer of skin appears in its place.
However, before you run out to do such drastic measures without knowing what you will be left with, consider some relatively easy and quite effective home remedies for acne scars.
It can save you from feeling bad about your appearance and spare you any consequences that may appear later on.
Citric Acid:
When it comes to a natural cure for an acne scar, look no further than your very own kitchen.
One solution is to squeeze the juice of a lemon or a lime and place it with a cotton ball on the scar.
Let it soak in and dry before removing it with water—you will be simply amazed at how this natural juice can lighten the blemishes.
Slice up a tomato and place it on your face.
The juice from the tomato contains Vitamin A, which has some very powerful qualities in not only preventing acne but also in freshening the skin.
This can give you a refreshed feeling and minimize the appearance of acne scars altogether.
Glycolic Acid:
Glycolic Acid easily penetrates the skin, and is used in lower concentrations in many skin care products.
It is used in higher concentrations (10-80%) as a chemical peel.
Glycolic acid improves the skin’s appearance by reducing wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars and the overall texture of the skin.
Glycolic acid disolves dead skin, and allows the new skin to come to the surface. In higher concentrations, it removes both old and new skin on the surface.
The skins response of swelling and redness help to deposit collagen as the body attempts to repair itself, resulting in reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and pitting.
Olive Oil:
We’ve all heard that olive oil can be a rather powerful food substance for a variety of reasons, and this applies to the removal of acne scars as well.
Rubbing olive oil on the skin will moisturize it and help to lessen the appearance of any acne scars.
Egg whites are another miraculous food and are helpful with scar removal.
Cucumber Face Mask:
Creating a face mask out of fresh cucumber is an excellent way to reduce the appearance of acne scars, and of course a very effective home remedy.
You can also make a mask out of lemon juice, oatmeal, sour cream, and yogurt.
As this is placed onto any acne scar and left on to soak in, it will act as a natural cure in battling these unsightly blemishes.
