Whenever we develop skin problems we look for some professional help, even if it something as simple as skin boils. A bacterium, Staphylococcus, invades the skin pores and causes formation of boils. It may all seem very confusing but you can actually treat this problem with natural and simple remedies.
It is a good idea to act fast when you get a boil because boils may lead to more serious skin problems.
Natural Ways to Cure Skin Boils
Skin Care
The first and foremost thing is to follow a good skin care routine. If you have boils, refrain from poking or squishing them. Keep the areas around the boils, squeaky clean and avoid touching the boils too often with your hands. This will not only prevent transfer of the infection but will also stop any further complication and also reduce the probability of marks later on.
Turmeric
Turmeric is an extremely useful culinary spice. The raw form is widely used for its exceptional medicinal properties. It has anti-inflammatory properties and can remove skin boils in a matter of 3-4 days. The anti-bacterial action of turmeric kills harmful bacteria and cleanses the skin.
When taken internally, turmeric helps to purify blood. You can blend some turmeric and make a paste and apply it on your skin, directly. Let the paste dry and then wash off with cold water. This however, leaves a yellowish stain which will go away in a day or two. You may also take it internally. Heat a cup of milk and add 1 teaspoon of turmeric paste. Drink this before going to bed. If you don’t like milk you may use water instead.
Eat Skin Healthy
In order to keep your skin blemish free, you need to keep your immune system strong. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, meat, fish and eggs to ensure that Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E , Vitamin B , zinc, Omega-3 fatty acids etc are reaching your body. These nutrients help to keep you strong on the inside and blemish-free on the outside. Cut out on caffeinated drinks, alcohol or sweetened foods. These foods tend to aggravate boils.
Onion Juice
Freshly squeezed onion juice is known to have anti-microbial properties and helps to get rid off skin boils. Apply the juice directly on the boils and wait till it dries up. Frequent use of onion will help to drain out the pus from the boil. Instead of onion you can also use some garlic. Garlic has the same anti-microbial properties.
Castor Oil
Castor oil is a good remedy to eliminate skin boils. Dip a cotton ball in some castor oil and secure the ball over the boil with a band-aid. This will help burst the boil faster and initiate the healing process.
Salt Water
Salt initiates Cellular Lysis in the microbial bodies and kills them. Mix some salt and water and apply this on your boils with the help of a cotton boil taking care to compress the boils slowly. Do this at least 5-7 times a day. This helps to kill the bacteria and drain the liquid from the boil.
Herbs for Boils
Herbs were used traditionally to treat boils and reduce the pain. Most of these herbs have to be taken internally or used as poultices. Burdock enters the body and purifies the blood. When applied directly on a boil it will drain out the liquid and assist in recovering. Others herbs that you may use are Honeysuckle, Echinacea and Oat straw.
