Herbal Remedies For Diarrhea

The problem of diarrhea is characterized by the frequent passing of loose or watery stools. Secretory, osmotic, motility-related, exudative, inflammatory and dysentery are six different types of diarrhea. Some of the common symptoms of diarrhea are vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite, bloating and so on. Too much consumption of alcohol and coffee can cause diarrhea. An individual may use below mentioned herbal remedies to deal with the problem of diarrhea.

Bilberry

Bilberry is an herb which contains mild antimicrobial properties. Use of this herb can help in treating the problem of diarrhea. Intake of an infusion or a drink prepared with the use of bilberry leaves may provide effective results. Berries can also be consumed on a daily basis to deal with various symptoms associated with diarrhea.

Agrimony Tea

Agrimony tea is an herbal remedy for diarrhea. Agrimony tea can be prepared by boiling dried agrimony (1 teaspoon) in a cup of water. Consumption of agrimony tea before going to sleep at night can help in curing diarrhea.

Peppermint

Peppermint can also provide relief from the symptoms of diarrhea. Herbal tea prepared by boiling dried peppermint leaves (1 teaspoon) in water (1 cup) for 10 to 15 minutes can be consumed to treat diarrhea. Intake of peppermint tea 2 to 3 times on a daily basis can provide the desired results.

Amaranth

Amaranth seeds or leaves can be used in dealing with the problem of diarrhea. Amaranth tea can be prepared by boiling amaranth seeds or leaves (2 teaspoons) in water (3 cups) for 5 to 7 minutes. Consumption of amaranth tea 2 to 3 times on a daily basis can help in obtaining relief from the symptoms of diarrhea.

Bayberry

Bayberry contains a chemical called myricitrin which can help in treating the problem of diarrhea. A mixture can be created by boiling bayberry (1 teaspoon) in a cup of water for 10 to 15 minutes. It is essential to drink this mixture 2 to 3 times in a day to get the desired results.

Slippery Elm

Another herb which can be used in treating diarrhea is slippery elm. An individual can create a mixture by adding slippery elm powder in a cup of hot water. Intake of this mixture on a regular basis can help in treating various symptoms resulting from diarrhea.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon can be treated as another effective herb to obtain relief from the problem of diarrhea. A mixture can be created by boiling cinnamon (half teaspoon) and cayenne pepper (1/4th teaspoon) in water (3 cups) for 20 to 25 minutes.

Intake of this mixture (1/4th cup) after it has cooled down can provide highly effective results. Another option is to create a solution by adding cinnamon (1/8th teaspoon) and honey in a cup of warm milk. Intake of this solution with each meal can also provide the desired results.

Chamomile

Chamomile has been used traditionally to treat diarrhea and other gastric conditions. An individual can consume herbal tea prepared by adding chamomile leaves in boiling water to cure the problem of diarrhea. Chamomile tea bags can also be used to prepare herbal tea.
